Search the blog

You’ve read about the benefits of having a blog on your website and now you’ve got one. The next point for consideration iswhat you should blog about. This blog doesn’t deal with subject matter, which is infinite in size. Rather it deals with core ideas to keep in mind when writing blog posts.

Write about timeless subjects

Most importantly, you should avoid transient content. Announcements about your new offices or reviewing the latest gadget are all well and good but they’re out–of–date pretty quickly. Writing content that is timeless means it will always be of value to your website. That’s not to say you can’t use your blog for time–sensitive information but don’t make such posts take up too much of your blog.

Write unique content

Don’t just link to other peoples’ posts. Publishing unique content means you boost your search engine rankings and are seen as an expert on your subject. Anyone can link to a web page but it takes much more time and knowledge to publish something new and useful.

Write tutorials, how-tos and reference guides

Imparting knowledge to people through your blog shows you are a knowledgeable person in your industry. Visitors will also feel like they have had a good experience on your website if they’ve got something for free or learned something new.

Write multi-part blogs

Write lengthy blogs in multiple parts (E.g. Part 1 of 5). Why? If people like your subject matter and catch you midway through the series it will give them more inclination to return back to your website. It’s an ethical way to hook someone in and keep them coming back.
